Time to Get Crafty

Looking for a way to add a special touch to your wedding? It is time to roll up your sleeves and get crafty!

For your ceremony recessional or send off, cut out pages from a copy of your favorite book, roll into a cone shape, and fill with flower petals of your choice. Wanting to add some extra sparkle to your wedding ensemble? Create a brooch bouquet out of your most treasured trinkets from your mother or grandmother’s jewelry box. One way to make your guests feel special is putting together welcome bags filled with an itinerary for the weekend, a map of the town highlighting restaurants and attractions, local goodies like a jar of honey or pecan pralines, and anything else you may think that your guests would enjoy. Need something to make your wedding day extra personal? Make unique place card holders out of unconventional items such as, tree branches or wine corks. Have fun getting crafty!

A Twist on Typical Centerpieces

Not a big fan of flowers? There are many ways to style centerpieces without flowers that are just as visually appealing. You can bring a pop of color to your centerpieces by using different colored vintage bottles, variations of patinated candle sticks or a diverse collection of antiqued books. Do not want to completely eliminate the use of flowers? Consider using succulents or different types of greenery as an alternative that can add a natural touch to the  centerpieces. Candles can help add warmth to the reception that can be displayed with antique candle sticks or centered in a lantern or birdcage.

Overall, non-floral centerpieces can still be eye catching with varying heights of accessories and different textures and colors.  Have fun with styling the center of the tables for your reception and don’t forget to add any personal touches that will make your centerpieces even more special!

Unique Guestbook Ideas

Looking for creative ways to remember the guests who attended your wedding? Here are a few ideas to commemorate your special day and the people who came to support you.

For the the artsy couple there are a couple of ways to create a guestbook. Make a quilt from individual fabric squares signed by each guest, and after the wedding the bride and groom put the lovely quilt on display by hanging it on a wall or using it as bedding for their guest room. Using a Polaroid camera, each guest snaps a picture of themselves and personalizes the photo by writing a message along the white border. These photos are placed in a scrapbook to preserve the memory of each wedding guest.

For the couple who loves to write, find an antique typewriter and guests type their words of advice for the bride and groom on archival paper. Then, place the inscribed paper in a scrapbook using photo corners to be enjoyed for years to come. For a winter wedding, guests can sign Christmas ornaments to be used in decorating the newly wedded couple’s Christmas tree. The music loving couple might provide old records from their favorite bands to be “autographed” by their guests and later framed or directly hung on walls at the couple’s home. Guests can also personalize Jenga game pieces and used during future game nights hosted by the bride and groom.

It’s fun to get creative with your guestbook! Your family and friends will love your DIY skills and it adds a personal touch to your wedding.
